3. Pieces of fiction advanced before reality's hit. Answer: fairy tales. The anagram of reaitys yields most of the letters except for FA so where do those come from?

It's a kinda &lit clue, if you move (or break) as in anagram indicator, the letters of earth then you would get EARTH from H E A R T Break(ing) up

3) the FA comes from pieces of (F)iction and (A)dvanced

I agree, no meaning of FA in there, but again, maybe it's a part &lit for those letters as follows

Pieces of (f) iction (a) dvanced - before (start letters)
these become part of the wordplay and the Definition, thus part &lit
