Ive just managed to finish this but am stumped by the parsing in 50a Australian state chases female on board British cruise ship. I have as the answer Queen Victoria whic seems to fit the state and the female but what has this got to with the rest of the clue?

There is a Cunard cruise ship called QUEEN VICTORIA sails out of Southampton
