Now stuck with a two word phrase for vow! In good conscience I cannot submit the puzzle now for the prize draw even if I manage to finish it so another nudge would be appreciated and for 7D "Cases where cabinet minister wears formal dress?" Quite the opposite! (8)

i was a bit stuck on the top right corner, if you have solved most of the rest, then guessing at the,

"Two lines in the grid describe what to put in the box, and a further line shows how to present it. "

gave me a nudge.

Hi Trevor and Geoff

Just had a go at this crossword and finished over 3/4 of it, I am still shy of 6&7 down and 15&19 across. I have an answer for 12a but can't quite parse the last two letters (is the 3rd letter N in this clue)
Also, can't seem to crack 23d with 3 letters in it, again, I have a word but unable to parse as yet.
I've no idea what is meant to go in the box, is this hard or is it me just being slow?

6 &7d and 15 & 19a were the last ones that i got, 15a was the very last but you don't actually need to solve any across clues to enter. i hope you can read between the lines here.
btw i have never entered a xword comp

Cheers Trevor, I'll take another look at it now.
The no 'N' in 3rd position in 12a could give me a good hint (I was working on 'Canasta' which can be 3/4 parsed if you look)

I had Canasta pencilled in (a good feature on the Java version, not seen it before).

Just got 23d so I'm happy with that. just the last four to get and the stuff in the box. Maybe tomorrow

Another day dawns but the clues in the top right are still below the horizon. If 10A is OLD LADY and 19A is SECONDS and someone suggested CANASTA (why?) for 12A then 6 down is still a mystery! I think alcohol is my problem, I have not had any for 10 years might be time to start again!
