Cyprus Weekly Colour Supplement Cryptic Crossword.

Clue reads as follows: "Does it make for economy in the garden?" 6 letter answer.

I have crossing it t he following:
- O - I - T

Have looked at anagrams of 'does it' and looked up words containing those letters. The only letter that I think COULD be questionable is the letter 'O'

It is driving us mad this one.

OK thanks for that - the 'O' looks wrong then.

In that case the clue to cross it is 'Half a pair of knee-breeches missing?' We now have the letters '- H - R -'

What do you think? 'SHORT?' We previously had 'FOURS' (as in Plus Fours)

Knee-breeches are shorts so half a pair would be 'short' in two senses.
