I'm not sure if it is relevant to the clue, but 2 reminds of the quiz question "In which US states are the USA's most northerly, southerly, easterly and westerly points?"

OK, so no-one is interested - I'll tell you anyway.

Southernmost is in Hawaii; the other three points (N, W and E) are all in Alaska.

I was interested Chris so I googled it!

Definitely not a waste, chrise, very interesting - I'm still struggling with the concept of Alaska as furthest east though, even though I looked it up on the map!
