In today's Herald we had:

13D Hateful to describe for example, yet I joined (10) ?B?M?N?B?E

As far as I an see, all the crossing letters are correct and the only word which fits is ABOMINABLE. This answer fits the first word of the clue, but the rest doesn't. Any ideas?

Thanks trevor, I should have seen that. Spending too much time preparing for the pantomime in a couple of weeks and not really concentrating properly.

I think you should concentrate on the Panto - what is your role?

I do all the technical stuff. Lighting, sound comms and anything that's needed for special effects. The only thing we can't have in the Community Theatre is pyro as it sets off the fire alarms, however it's OK in the rest of the village halls.

Be careful with the pyros, John. A friend of mine lost an eye through not following the golden rule: if you're at the business end, make sure the fuse is in your pocket.
