I think your 'r' at the end is wrong.
Ransel is an old Scottish/Orkney and Shetland word, meaning to hunt for stolen goods
It can be 'ranzel or 'ransel ', but the latter has
'sel(ler).

35a is LOSEL=a worthless person. RAN=smuggled+half of SELler =RANSEL for 25d.
