I did parse 11ac now I have looked at it again - you have missed the crucial word "cold" from the clue.

thanks chrise - I had 'play' for 9ac but that must be wrong, I assume 11ac ends with a word for something rather chilly - still working on the St Bernard clue!

PLAY is what I have too, but it puts the Y in a different place from where you show it - ??,Y??
