After an early start, I've now ground to a halt. Help with these two would be great.
26 D. Ancient city's market place at rear of quay (4)

6 D. Cadet's place: beside Veronica (5) ??e??

NB. The preamble says 'wordplay in the majority of clues yields an extra letter'.

Have now got 6D and a possibility for 26 D.

I found a reference to a TRO market on google...not something I was aware of but it could then give you Troy.

Thanks, andy - I ended up with '?roy' so went for Troy, ancient city, but I hadn't worked out the 'tro' part.

But don't forget the extra letter TRO? = marketplace!

That's at the rear of quaY.
