A seer is someone who can look into the future (vision) foremen implies the plural therefore overseers rather than just oversee. Hope that explains it.

I just took it as a simple agent noun. Someone who sees. They are not always accepted in Countdown though!

Sorry rossim, with the enquirer asking particularly about the "rs" it appeared they had stopped at oversee.....(I also thought you might be having your lunch I wouldn't have bothered otherwise).
