Need some help parsing these....(assuming they're correct)

Hi Mamya, I think you're right, I didn't know the other definitions but I've just looked them up and it fits exactly. Any thoughts on the other one?

Struggling Brendan , have considered 'Chess' the musical and even Cilla Black [nee White] but neither gets me anywhere.

You could make 'in black and white' = 'clearly' then add 'stated' to the wordplay - would allow soundalikes... ?

No, to be honest I didn't understand any of it. Are you saying it's a homonym?

So sorry Brendan, my last reply seemed terse - if we consider
'clearly' to indicate 'In black and white' then 'stated' could possibly mean we look at the rest of the clue as, could be 'sounds like'.


I realise now that it is time for bed as even I am having difficulty understanding what I am trying to impart - hope someone can help overnight.
