The 4 in the clue may refer to No 4 clue in the crossword - as I don't have the paper could you let me know the clue and answer you have?

lily perhaps as the clue doesn't seem to suggest a plural (if your 's' is wrong)

Today's xword is full of plurals! I thought of lilies but it is too many letters. The I comes from respite that is correct I'm sure. .... So it would suggest the bulbous plant is 3 letters but plural for the 4th. I wonder if anyone has got to it yet & found the answer!

Skin growths = hairs There are a lot of March Hares in this puzzle!!

Just found your reply ....& yes I could put hilly ratherthan hills which would give me LILY! Thank goodness that's finished at long last!!!!
