Actually I think it is just B for book, and the K comes from Kelvin (temperature scale)

Think you are right. Living in the west end of Glasgow I just thought of the nearby River Kelvin, and it's banks.

Long shot - it might be OVERS as a recent format has 20 overs a side (i.e. a score of overs)?
