45d - Colonist before start of month gets taken over island - ANTIGUA.

Colinist (Ant)+ Aug 1 (start of month)reversed, i.e. taken over.

54a - Gamble money when accompanied by a woman - BETTINA

Gamble (Bet) + woman (Tina)??

Get the Antigua explanation but still unsure about the Bettina one?

BET = gamble, TIN = money + A =BETTINA
