I thought of alley but have SHEATHE for 'put away(a sword)' for 7 letters. If it is alley then I would have

Can you spell it allee ?! Other wise my put away a sword in (7) is wrong as I put sheathe ..... Ummm looks a bit odd doesn 't it ???!

Yes, allee is an alternative spelling

and sheathe is correct

Thanks jazzgirl but where was it as I couldn't find it! It was the first clue we tackled but with 2 incorrect different suggestions! Whew! Finished at last but today was not our best efforts !
