All finished, but don't see the construction of 53 across. "Depart hurriedly, finding parasite in joint"
Answer is SKEDADDLE - can't fit "parasite" OR "joint"
to the clue.

i was wondering skidaddle joint being saddle ?? parasite being kid?? but a bit far fetched and makes my ideas cana and nero for 51d 52d not work??

No, it must be "Nero" for the one down, so I don't think it can be that - worth a go though!
