"ends" meaning "objects" as in "aims" of a plan - also the "extremes" of something, of course

Thanks chrise. Still stuck with the rest.

I've given up on the easy crossword. Toooooo hard. The 'daub' clue was smear not splat.

I often find "easy" crosswords harder than cryptics - there can be too many possible answers.
