measurements is correct, bobsmum - SURE MEN in MEATS; "ruler" is a measuring one!

When I was at junior school, our teacher drummed it into us that a king was a ruler and the measuring device was a rule. Maybe this is the exception to the rule!

But isn't a "RULE" the period of time in which a king is in office? (As in the "rule of King Alfred")
Also the "Rule of St. Benedict" would be difficult to use for measuring lengths!

I'm not disputing your answer Chris, in fact both words fit. It's just one of those things you learn at school that stay with you for life! :-)

If St Benedict lent you his rule, I'm sure you could measure with it!
