Cannot see the last one, 6d, living in SW France the only word I can think of is french for 'seed' pepin but this doesn't fit with the rest of the clue

Just remind me of the clue & I'll probably remember the word (could it have been GRAIN?)

Thanks for that,spelling 8a wrongly didn't help. I should have written the french ending correctly. Heavy snow arrived here last Mercredi, but raining now so the roads will be interesting tomorrow morning !
