Chrise & rambler, I seem to remember the pedant discussion from a previous time on this forum - a time when I thought I was welcomed into the pedant club. So that makes three (if I've counted correctly).

chrise, are there some special ferns? I believe there's a small piece of temperate cloud forest left.

The fern expert ('er outdoors) has been twice previously and knows all the best places to look.

However we are going with a couple of friends who have a more normal (?) attitude to ferns, so our "ferning" might be curtailed.

We went to Florence with these friends a couple of years ago - by midday on the first day we discovered that they didn't like looking at Renaissance art!

Ah, fair Firenze - what a wonderful place. Have spent many enjoyable times there.

Yes indeed - we rubbed the boar's nose on our first visit, and have been back four times since.
