I've had this quiz for over a month ... and these last three are driving me made

all answers are vegetables

1. twin dogs (6 letters)

2. backward idiot + brains (7 letters)

3. take a blow for the rascal (8 letters)

thought the last one could be calabash but cant fit it in with all the clue ... and I dont think 1. is pawpaw as I have that (but spelt papaw) for 'dad's hand'
can anyone help ... please ....
