Clue is something to do with German Tradition.
Ten letters--1st letter is B.
2nd letter is same as 2nd last letter.
3rd letter is same as last letter.
Also 2nd & 9th letter is same as the 2nd, 4th & 5th letter in the word --B ? ? ? ? M(to which there is no clue).

The only words which seem to fit that second pattern are beseem, Balaam and beteem.

Balaam was a soothsayer in the Biblical story Ballam and the Donkey from Numbers.

A balaam can also be an unimportant paragraph kept in readiness to fill up a newspaper.

Chambers Word Wizard lists 27 words which fit, including balsam, bantam, bedlam, becalm, biform, bottom and bunkum.

No, forget my offering. Just reread last line of the original post and I am talking hooey!

That would make the 1st clue answer pattern either B A ? ? ? ? ? ? A ? or
B E ? ? ? ? ? ? E ? (something to do with German tradition). I presumed it was all one word although it doesnt actually say it is. So maybe its more than one word.

Reckon they've got me on this one so might have to give up !
The puzzle contains numbers in each square representating all letters of alphabet.
The only letters given are as follows:---

(2) M=14; O=6; O=6; ?=26; ?=3; ?=15; ?=7;
7 letters
(3) ?=10; O=6; O=6:?=5; ?=15; ?=7; (6 letters)
(3)?=21; ?=3; ?=25; M=14; M=14; ?=1; (6 letters)
(4) ?=20; ?=22; O=6: ?=21; ?=25; ?=21; (6 letters)
(5) ?=10; ?=4: ?=10; ?=10; O=6; ?=26; ?=11;
(7 letters)
(6) ?=21; ?=10; O=6; ?=22; (4 letters)
Still the main answerline needed =
B=8; ?=15; ?=18; ?=21; ?=7; ?=25; ?=9;
?=11; ?=15; ?=18;
(10 letters, with some connection however vague with German Tradition.)

Any help appreciated.
