Two I can't parse are:-
39 Ac:- "Architectural features
misaligned, places rear walls in" (7)
(S-F-I-S) SOFFITS would seem apt.
46 Ac:- "Companion endlessly munching
away, seeing fried food" (7)
CROUTON seems favourite.

Whilst I am mentioning these, I have
to say what an absolutely brilliant
crossword Mr. Araucaria compiled in
the Guardian. Took me hours to do but
I enjoyed every minute of it!

Cron(y)+ out (away) - Crouton?

Architectural features misaligned, places rear walls in

Misaligned - off? places - sits, walls in - contains so S off its- architectural features?

your explanation should fit the bill!
Still can't work out the "soffits" one,
