Unclued, using LH bottom corner as zero go along 2 on X-axis and 10 on Y-axis. Similarly for 7 and 1.That gives you the two co-ordinates required.Draw a straight between these 2 points and you should have the letters OCIMGGROGETUSO. Now look for anagram. I'm still strugglng to find where the name for the writer is!

Does the answer entered across require anything to be done to the grid (i.e., is understanding the answer necessary for completing the puzzle)? I'm still stuck, and repeated re-reading of the preamble hasn't helped. Thanks.

Riversk, I got held up with this for ages as well and I'm sure quite a few others did too. The good news is that it has no effect on the overall grid. You have to think laterally about "ENTERED ACROSS" - match that with R.D.
