It must be me but I just can't figure this out.

Clue across: A bar used by man coming from the desert = Arabian

Clue down: Extremist with royal,a woman, about 50 = Radical

However the fifth letter of arabian, i corresponds with the third letter of radical,d so one of them must be wrong. Could the answer be Arabain?

Could somebody please put me out of my misery?

Yes. This one made me think there was a mistake at first. However the answer for 23 across is ABANDON.
A BAN (bar) + DON (man) = desert.
