Ixion, thank you very much, very obvious eh? Wrongly thought 'pocheen' had a 't' in it.

I thought it had a "C" in it, but my dictionary gives the spellings as poteen or POTHEEN.

Actually Jane Chambers gives it as poteen or potheen so the C is wrong...I lazily spelled it the way I pronounce it!

Indeed, ixion - I would have sworn that it was POTCHEEN until I looked it up - however consonants in Ireland are often not what they seem to be!

Tombola, thank you. Ixion. Have just found the following spellings on Wikipedia and an Irish site. POTCHEEN, POTEEN, POITIN, PTCHEEN, POTHEEN.
And all the time the answers BOOTLEG. Whew.
