Well here I am on late patrol as usual.Just have the one clue left, and as nobody else has mentioned it I think I must be being dim - 2 down - bet you are all laughing. Re Frowsty, fowsty, etc... where I come from (Staffordshire) we said fowsty, no R. although I do think I have heard it with the r elsewhere. I did rather love 7 across and 24 across, but struggled with 6 down; had no idea of its musical meaning. Surprised some of you hadn't heard of the French city. It's big, and rugby loving so no shrinking violet. Chilly here too, in the middle of France, although we are expecting temperatures to rise a tad again, so we may still have a little left of this extraordinary summer. Summer? Best wishes to all - love reading the chat.

Morning angelmcm,
Re 2dn - the goods he deals with might be dodgy.

Found it easy this week! So did not come here for help. But like others I found some words that I did not know before. But it can't be cheating to look up possible words in a dictionary or atlas to confirm that your suspicions of answers are right.

Hello everyone. I am in my usual `stuck` state, this time with the top left hand corner. Cannot get 7A, 10A, 1D, 2D, 4D and 6D. I was also stuck on 15A but now you have enlightened me and, like most people, have never heard of that word!! So please help anyone. As all the blank spaces are together, I cannot even consult Quick Solve which is my usual way of cheating!!

Talking of TV, is anyone else watching `Parade`s End`? I am enjoying it very much. I was unable to watch the closing of Paraolympics as my TV screen kept on `breaking up` for some reaso so I switched to that Daphne du Maurier play and I have forgotten the name but despite the ludocrous story I enjoyed it. Yes,a shame the Olympics and Paras are finished but what a triumph all round they were. Sorry I missed Andy Murray`s success in NY as I dont get Sky.

I`ll have to come back another day to see if anyone can help me as my time here in Library is nearly finished.

Just came back to say I hope Old gal is doing ok and is managing to be her usual chirpy self. Also good to hear from Pipesmoker last week )and this, of course)
