Hiya tony,

Oh yes! I do remember it mate and remember it doing my head in for days. It was called Geocaching if my memory serves me right.
Never heard of Polybius ciphers, is that the key to solving it then?

Was the answer due to be published bafore now though?

Just read up on Polybius ciphers and it looks like his basic algorithms don't count for any digits above 5 and there's nothing to match zero. But I can see what you mean Tony, maybe by tweaking the formula, it could be reconstructed to include these digits.
The question is though. How and where do you tweak it?

sorry for being late to reply.I am watching last night of the proms. It was only a suggestion les40 and it still has not been solved, but I came across the polybius square recently and wondered if it may help.

BTW my friend had bought 10 tickets to watch last night of the proms in Hyde Park with the big screen tonight for £35 each. When one of his company could not make it they put it on E-bay(why did he not give it to me)and it was sold for £185!

Thanks for raising that one again. I think we all got headaches last time. However, it's frustrating not to have it solved.

Considering the valid arguments above, perhaps another cipher might work. Scroll down.
