Clue 'it needs to be pointed in the office perhaps to be of use' - 'pencil' fitted as I already had ---c-l. But I'm stumped with 'Taken ill'. If pencil is right, the letters are -E-E-T-D.

Any ideas anybody?

A bit of a long shot, but if you take 'ill' of something, you resent it....
