Tony, I thought that was a fantastic clue when I saw it on Sunday - I spent ages trying to solve it from totally the wrong angle.

Yes - it took me ages to see that I was to remove/strike the 'd'from dead.

Seeing LILY and the ASPH in blaspheme did it.

I enjoyed the use of Savage as the anagram indicator which went so well with Lily!

Speaking of lovely clues, you should try the Harper's that Syzygy posted. There are some gratifying ones- classically "simple".

h Tony. Just looking in before signing off. That was a super clue. Glad it was solved before I got stuck in to it. Don't think I'd have solved it although it's very clear when you see it.

Unlike you, I'm not a great solver. I'm more of a setter. That's why I admire the folk who come on this site. Solving "cold" cannot be easy.
