I'm thinking "Utah" and can see the state university but not the reference to role reversal??

A bit loose but, if you play a role you wear the 'hat', reverse that + U

Only tenuous explanation I can think of is e.g. if you're functioning as a doctor your role is as a doctor so you would have your doctors hat on.
