The answer BEEN for the clue EXISTED does not tally and the word BEEN does not appear in the dictionary on the crossword clue solver. Who makes them up?

Who would have thought a wee word like been could cause much debate and in my case confusion , the daily record on a saturday has many weird answers that to normal people do not make sense ! .I thought been was only answer available and i thought of someone who has been a had been if you get my drift if not my excuse is it late and my brain tired and i'm sticking to it.

come on now. not really much of a debate was it. bit of a half baked rant from well-pissed immediately slapped down by more discerning folk.
