Hi Mallard - 1d think 'Great Bear' & 2d is two boys names

I seem to be stuck on some clues which you all find easy. I found 1d hard (thanks for the help)but I am not sure about about 15a (I have council but do not see how it fits in with radio) nor really satisfied with my answer to 19d (I have pilot). If those are right please explain. By the way the last three letters of 11a sounds like "Eyes"

Hi devonian (that's my county of residence too). 1d fell into place as soon as I'd entered 9a and 2d's Surname is my forename. (Duh)

15a council (assembly) which sounds like counsel (advise).

"on the radio" usually means "sounds like", so council sounds like counsel (to advise)se)
19d a pilot episode of a show on TV is a trial run to get the public's response.
