I'm not seeing the logic here...

"Not often seen when boxes have key" = sparse.

"Cliff shows where he is cut" = scar.

Many thanks.

Spars means boxes as in 'he spars' and e is a key in music.

Hi PS.

"Not often seen when boxes have key" = sparse ('spars' = fights/boxes + 'e' = musical key).

"Cliff shows where he is cut" = scar ( a 'scar' is another word for the sheer face of a cliff, as is 'scarp') ?

Another word for cliff is escarpment, which contains the word scar.
