I have finished this but am puzzled by 24a;
Cubs caught in tub turned red (7) I have put
in MARXIST but fail to see the reasoning.

A TRAM is also a mine tub and the cubs are a SIX, I was a sixer many years ago! put together and reverse, voila MARXIST!

As always I raise my hat to you,having never been
in the cubs,I did not know the SIX part;still
it's bound to turn up again sometime.
