Could anyone help to explain how there answers derive, please? I'll write the clues then give the answers.
18ac. Vehicle to pick up a passenger returning from chaotic situation. (5,4)
23ac. Means of stopping play-boy pursuing place to stay (4,5)
3d. Change following demolition of head (5)
22d. Leave head gardener missing plant product (5)
The given answers are:
18- Mares nest (in my small dictionary this is given as 'fancy discovery')
23 - Band Brake (I can see the rake - is Band B to do with Council tax rating? What is a Band brake?)
3- Alter
22- Resin
Any help will be gratefully received.

MARES NEST is SENSE in TRAM read backwards. I wasn't happy about the definition, either.
