and 9a Town's university and two others combined to dismiss Head (8) --B-I-G-. Is it OXBRIDGE or UXBRIDGE?

I was leaning towards Oxbridge, but couldn't see why. (dont have the grid).

university = U
and two other(Uni's)combined to dismiss Head = Oxbridge without the 1st letter, to give the town - uxbridge

U (university) + (O)xbridge (two others combined with head dismissed)
