I'm struggling a bit with this one. It would help if someone could confirm/explain 1ac: Town's serenades interrupting cook (11)
I think it might be BASINGSTOKE - BAKE is cook, SINGS is serenades, but what about the TOK?

So that gives me a problem on 6dn
Baronet, hairy man, frightful beast on Greek mountain (11,4)
E?????T???N/?O?R
I'm pretty sure all the letters are right. I thought the second word might be MOOR (to fit in with "mountain", but the word search sites don't give me a likely word for the first part (unless there is an enterotoxin moor somewhere - remind me not to go walking on it!)

That just leaves me with 8dn Support brilliant objective (6)

I suppose it's DEFEND - Definition and END for "objective", but what is the DEF bit?
