the clue is - exercise on a part of a golf course in the shade - the letters i have are as follows p_a / _a_e_ (3,5)

I think your second "A" may be wrong, as I thik the answer is PEA GREEN

exercise = PE on A makes PEA
part of golf course = GREEN
and PEA GREEN is a shade.
