13ac Way said to be problematic for lame dog (5)
I have STYLE
The def. is "way", and it would be problematic for a lame dog, but it seems unusually verbose for Araucaria - am I missing something more subtle?

I must share this beauty, though:
8dn Friend of Caesar,J., or the opposite (7)

STYLE - sounds like stile, which would be difficult for a lame dog!

Thanks bullfrog - I meant to include the "sounds like" bit, but forgot. I still think it's longer than it need be - after all, our last dog had trouble with stiles before she went lame!

It's in reference to a specific idiomatic expression 'He'd help a lame dog over a stile'

Thanks bullfrog. I thought that there might be some expression with which I was not familiar.

btw I put "problematic lame dog" into Google to see if it found an expression, but on the first couple of pages the only two hits that weren't veterinary were the Guardian crossword page and the soluton site fifteensquared!
