Why is 40 down catnapped? Mounted soldier having excelled all round rested intermittently. Finished but not having the logic of the answer will niggle all evening, unless I watch the last two episodes of The Bridge.

ant is the soldier backwards inside capped

this is a down clue and so mounted means upside down.ant becomes tna,with capped outside.
