For info, this is the text of an email I have just sent to feedback@thetimes.co.uk:
I was very disappointed that there was no Jumbo Crossword in The Times on Bank Holiday
Monday (7th May).
I am now even more disappointed to have discovered (via an internet forum) that there
was indeed a Jumbo Crossword (number 979) on that date - but that it was only produced in
the online edition of The Times, and hence was only available to subscribers.
Please can you explain the reason behind this highly unpopular decision, and request
that it should not happen again?

If I get any reply I'll report back, but in the meantime, could I suggest that anyone else who feels strongly about this should also contact The Times? The more complaints they get, the more likely they might be to take notice of them!
