The clue is "A slow type, quick as you can! (4)"
I've solved it, and even found it listed as a word in Chambers (acknowledging its derivation), but has anyone ever actually heard it pronounced as one word, rather than 4 letters?

I have, actually, but I consider anyone who does as several sandwiches short of a picnic.

I've most often heard that usage by Americans, pronounced Ay-sap.
