From the Observer 15 June, clue is '27'

I've got L _ N _ I _ U _ E

Can only presume it's LONGITUDE but can't work out why???

Struggling to work that one out too, is the clue just '27' not 'see 27' and it is referring to either 27 across/down. Just an idea...but then thinking about there aren't many crosswords that go up to clue number 27.

Will keep thinking!

Thanks It was longitude - there was no clue 27, still stumped as to why...

See page 30 of today's Observer main section. '27' was a misprint as we suspected.
