I left out "in" (missing part of the clue)

Just in case you may still be wondering, jazzgirl, 23 ac., answer for which is
"ventricle", as you know, is an anagram of
V (victory sign) + IN + R (Russian leader)
+ ELECT. It took me a few hours to do this
puzzle, with my only doubt now being 4 D
"chic" (fashionable range no longer in yellow). Never wotked out the yellow bit!

It took me a while to see the wordplay here, hope this helps.

CHIC = Fashionable

Yellow = Chic(ken) . 'ken' is your 'range' of sight or knowledge
range no longer in yellow = chic(-ken)
