Am I missing something subtle here?
Isn't the red rose Lancastrian?
Help please!

Hi Carrie.

White rose for a Yorkist (7), so "...v. red rose!" seems a bit perverse other than the 'red rose' Lancastrians rose up against the Yorkists.

I hope that someone has a better explanation.

Final bit of explanation in case it's not clear already. "v red rose" doesn't mean VERY red rose. It means VERSUS red rose.
