7 down: "Bacon not quite admitting age as old artist."

Am sure it has to be LEONARDO - but can't work out why.

Lardon/bacon, with the 'n' reemoved (bacon nearly) is lardo +eon/age inside.

Thank you all! OH mentioned lard but I forgot about lardons - and I use them when cooking! DOH!
