Some real ornery clues this week, but nevertheless
very interesting ones! I'm struggling on one of the shorter ones:- "Fortune's said to bring great comfort" (4 letters) - I have -U-E so far. Probably it's standing out a mile - anyone able to shed any light?

How about Fortune's... = Luck's ... sounds like LUXE = luxury (Ch.D)

Many thanks, Jolan! This crossed my mind at one time but I never thought that "luxe" was a word. But you are right so my luxe in!
