54A: Upholstery material is stripped - the cover is rubbish (7) _ _ B _ R _ T. Think this is Tabaret not sure why though, apart from it is upholstery material.

38D Flat sausage ending in pan, big, sliced at each end (10) _ O _ _ _ O _ _ _ L. Think this is horizontal, again not sure why apart from it is flat.

All help and explanations gratefully received

54 stripped (bare) inside rubbish (tat)

First one is THITHER

The stern of craft is T, struck is HIT and a certain boat is HER (boats being feminine).

The next one is, as you say, TABARET

Strpped is BARE covered by TAT (rubbish)

The last one is HORIZONTAL

The sausage is CHORIZO, the end of pan is N and big is TALL. Put them together and slice off the ends gives horizontal - flaT
