Aristo, this is a historic day! All correct, even Denver Nuggets & Justice Souter! In the past I could hardly even begin a US puzzle, whether on a boring flight or over an equally boring breakfast with school exchange host (who was a fanatic) in Cleveland 17 yrs ago!let alone finish them! But they were non-cryptic, just a test of US culture & vocab really! So many thanks for your help. Have tried to get Ros interested too. Now on the May one:is the crossword patron saint E Riddleton perhaps? That would help a lot finding the solutions where 1 letter has disappeared each time into the "crypt" at the bottom!Have you tried it? have only 8 bits & pieces at the moment:wonder whether to go on.A propos, is there a city in the South-West called San T?? It consists of 2 wds, only 6 letters (or possibly 7) altogether, and the rest of the clue goes "...vault entombs colonist", so I was thinking ANT for colonist but can find no word of 3/4 letters meaning vault (in either sense) to fit round it to form a name.Never mind if this flummoxes you. It's good to be in contact again.Busying myself with extra chores like this one since the snow & cold outside (unusual for here) forbid most other activities --- except fetching firewood. look forward to hearing from you, even with your technical problems. Maurice.
